First up on this little experiment is Dear Bongo from a Canadian Avant-Garde Rock trio from New Brunswick, Canada called Motherhood.
Dear Bongo is manic yet singsong-y, with arrangements that can be complex but also somehow maintain a nursery rhyme simplicity. It’s fun music but it’s also dark, strange music full of tension that builds and builds, and then never quite releases in the way you think it will. It’s a remarkable and interesting collection of songs from a band that wants to keep you guessing.
Put this on if you’re on a Jack White kick but want to notch up the abstract a little.
